Ernest V. Klein, biography

Ernest V. Klein serves as counsel to Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr LLP, a 1100 lawyer firm, with offices in Baltimore, Beijing, Berlin, Boston, Brussels, California, London, Munich, New York, Northern Virginia, Oxford, Waltham and Washington.

He is the former Chairman of Hale and Dorr's Investment Management Group with over thirty-five years experience concentrating on the mutual fund industry.

He is a graduate of Brown University where he was an honors major in English and American literature. He received a J.D. from Georgetown Univeristy where he was a member of the Georgetown University Law Journal.

Ernie served in the U.S. Army, mostly with a military intelligence unit in Berlin, during the Cold War. He was born in Prague, Czech Republic, and he is fluent in German.

A life-long opera devotee, he was the co-founder of the Opera Galas in conjection with Pauline Ho Bynum and Monadnock Music. He is a Metropolitan Opera National Council patron and serves on the New England Regional committee of the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions. He is a Board member of Tenacity, a not-for-profit citywide tennis and academic program for at-risk middle school children.
